Stony Batter is the largest underground tunnel complex in New Zealand and is open to the public on a regular daily timetable. The underground complex has over 20 different rooms (some not open yet) and a kilometre of tunnels - as well as an above ground Museum for those who don't fancy venturing underground. Opening hours Casual Visitors: 10.00am to 3.00pm daily 9.00am to 7.00pm from 26 December to 31 January Guided Groups of 8 or more people: Hours to suit you Bookings and general information: Ph 027 305 2772 (After hours 09 372 5622) Guided Tours To gain maximum benefit from your visit to Stony Batter it is highly recommended that you take a guided tour. Only 24 hours booking notice is necessary. Phone the above numbers to pre-book a tour or take "pot luck" by tagging onto another tour on the day of your visit. For those of you who wish to explore the tunnels and chambers on you own you are most welcome to do so. |
